Chief Justice Bryan Sykes has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Court Administration Division confirmed the development in a media release this morning.
It says Justice Sykes is experiencing mild symptoms and on the advice of his doctors will go into isolation for 7 days.
The Court Administration Division says it is hoped that after this week long isolation, the Chief Justice will return to work at the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice had been scheduled to resume presiding over the Klansman gang trial at 10 this morning.
He had yesterday abruptly adjourned the trail, furious at both the defense and the prosecution.
Less than 20 minutes into the resumption of the matter yesterday, Justice Sykes ended the proceedings and stormed out of the courtroom.
He described the sitting as a grand waste of his time.
