The chikungunya virus has had a devastating impact on staff and productivity at one of the country’s biggest business conglomerates, Grace Kennedy and Company Limited.
That’s according to its Chief Executive Officer, Don Wehby.
He says Chik-V may be responsible for approximately 800 employees missing work for at least three days.
Mr. Wehby says productivity at the retail level was particularly affected.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wehby says the local business environment continues to be tough.
He says given the depreciation of the Jamaican dollar, Grace Kennedy’s international food business is doing better than the domestic food market.
