Chief Executive Officer for the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, Dennis Chung, is against giving public sector workers a $4,000 a month raise.

Speaking with Nationwide News, Mr. Chung says that the public sector needs to be paid by performance.

The government has offered a 7% salary increase to public sector workers.

However, some trade unions are advocating for a $4,000 a month increase across the board.

Mr. Chung says any reduction in the primary surplus target should not be used to pay the public sector.

He says that it would be better spent on community projects.
