Head of the Jamaica Umbrella Group of Churches, the JUGC, the Reverend Peter Garth says there’re mixed views among church leaders in relation to lobbying for the vaccine.
Reverend Garth told our News Center yesterday afternoon, that although some church leaders are willing to take the vaccine, they’re concerned about encouraging the congregation to follow suit.
He adds that this is a precautionary measure.
Reverend Garth explained that churches could’ve been given more leniency for the weekend lockdown because they have been compliant with the covid-19 safety protocols.
He notes that church leaders have been working with the government.
However the JUGC boss says he doesn’t believe the lockdowns are infringing on the rights of religious groups.
