The Opposition Spokesman on Environment, Daryl Vaz, is calling on Portfolio Minister Robert Pickersgill, to account for the mixed signals being sent by his office and the Mining Minister, Phillip Paulwell, on the removal of sand from Rutland Point Negril.

He says the move was condemned by Minister Pickersgill but authorized by Paulwell through a quarry license obtained via his Ministry.

Vaz is calling on Minister Pickersgill to make clear when he was made aware of the quarrying.

He wants to know if the Environment Minister stands by his allegation that the activity was illegal. He says someone must be made accountable for any possible lapse in guidelines and the chaos that has ensued.
