Public commentator, Dr. Nadeen Spence, has described Tuesday’s ugly exchange in Parliament as a disgrace.

She reacted to the incident on Nationwide at Five on Wednesday in an interview with Sayeed Bernard.

North West Manchester Member of Parliament, Mikael Phillips, had to be physically restrained by fellow MPs, following a heated exchange with West Kingston MP Desmond McKenzie moments after Tuesday’s sitting of the House of Representatives was adjourned.

The events were reportedly sparked by disrespectful comments hurled at House Speaker, Juliet Holness by members on the Opposition benches.

The speaker has since accused South West St. Andrew MP, Dr. Angela Brown Burke, of shoving her and calling her a coward as she left the chamber.

Dr. Brown Burke denies the shove claim, but has admitted to calling Holness a coward.

Dr. Spence believes the House Speaker is being politically victimised.
