Information Minister, Robert Morgan, says the Constitutional Reform Committee has adjusted its schedule regarding the first piece of legislation to come from its deliberations.
The Minister was responding to a question during Wednesday’s Post Cabinet media briefing.
Phase One of the reform agenda is to produce a bill which should see the repatriation of the Constitution, the abolition of the monarchy, and the establishment of Jamaica as a republic in the Commonwealth of Nations.
That legislation was originally anticipated in May.
However, discussions among committee members resulted in calls for more time to complete critical deliberations.
Minister Morgan also says public consultations are still ongoing, which may ultimately slow down the process.
