Mining minister, Floyd Green, says payments are set to begin this week for contractors and suppliers who are owed billions by Discovery Bauxite Partners.

The contractors and suppliers were growing increasingly restive, as the company struggled to pay them approximately $3 billion owed as of September this year.

Minister Green says his ministry has been acting as a mediators.

The issue of the payments has been languishing for almost a year.

Minister Green says about ten main contractors engaged by Discovery Bauxite may’ve been affected.

He says these main contractors are connected to several more sub-contractors and a significant pool of direct employees totaling about 6-hundred personnel.

Meanwhile, Minister Green says Discovery Bauxite has indicated its intention to fix the current issues and continue investing in the local industry.
