The Police are confirming that one of its members, a Constable, was shot and injured during a robbery in Scott’s Pass, Clarendon last night.
Reports are that about 11pm, the Constable, whose name has not been released, was on his way home with a relative from the airport, when they stopped at an establishment in the area.
Two men, one armed with a gun, then entered the premises and robbed them.
The gunman also opened fire, hitting the Policeman, before fleeing the scene with his crony.
The Constable was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious, but stable condition.
Police Commissioner, Dr. Carl Williams, is expressing outrage that hoodlums with no regard for life and property have once again threatened the life of another member of the JCF.
In the meantime, the Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward and tell what they know.
Anyone with information that can assist the Police with their investigation, is being asked to call Crime Stop at 311 or 811, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest Police Station.
