Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais Guy, says the annual Christmas Eve celebration, Grand Market, should be cancelled.

The Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association, JMEA, President Richard Pandohie, told Nationwide News on Wednesday, that Grand Market could cause a surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to Dr Guy, allowing Grand market to take place this year would cause mass gatherings.

However, Dr. Guy says the relaxation of curfew hours during the Christmas period will not necessarily cause a surge in the cases.

But, he says strident measures will have to be implemented to monitor gatherings.

The Opposition Spokesman on Health says he is dissatisfied with the number of people who are adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols:
