State Minister Dr. Norman Dunn, says Jamaican intellectual property owners will soon be able to use these rights as collateral to acquire loans.
He described the development as a game changer for the industry which has been years in the making.
He says the government over the last year worked to widen global copyright protections for Jamaican innovators through the signing of various treaties.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dun says Jamaica will also have the honour of hosting the World Free Zone Organisation Annual Conference in June.
He says the significant event will allow Jamaica to promote itself internationally.
