Member of Parliament for St Andrew West Rural, Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, is dismissing claims she was being dishonest in her arguments in defense of easing the country’s restrictions on abortion.

Yesterday, spokesperson for the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society, Philippa Davies, accused the MP of distorting the international conventions to support the decriminalization of abortion in Jamaica.

However, Mrs. Flynn is arguing that she wasn’t misleading the country. She cited information by two United Nation’s committees that issued a statement last year about the steps state parties needed to take in accordance with certain conventions.

Meanwhile, the St Andrew West Rural MP says she was shocked to hear the accusations made by Ms. Davies.
