Minister of Transport and Works, Dr. Omar Davies, says former PNP President and Prime Minister, Michael Manley, must be congratulated for having the vision in the 1970s to see that China would become a world leader in the future.
Dr. Davies made the point as he spoke yesterday at the official opening of the Angels to Linstead section of the North-South Highway.

The North South highway was built by China Harbour Engineering Company, CHEC and represents a 6-hundred million US dollar investment.
Dr. Davies says the project represents the largest infrastructure investment in the country’s history.

Dr. Davies reminded the audience that there were some who doubted the intentions of the Chinese when they were discussing the project with the Jamaican government.
