Transport and Works Minister, Dr. Omar Davies, says he’s seeking a meeting with Police Commissioner, Dr. Carl Williams to discuss security issues affecting the Linstead based work site of the North-South Highway in St. Catherine.

His comment follows the murder of four men at the location on Sunday, in what appears to have been a robbery.

The men, three of whom were attached to the China Harbour Engineering Company, CHEC, were relieved of over 1-million dollars in cash and then shot and killed.

They’ve been identified as Courtney Coburn, Carlton Scott, Kirk Anthony Foote and Greg Harris.

Three of the men were ambushed as they transported the payroll for men working on the Ferry to Linstead leg of the North-South leg of Highway 2-thousand.

The other man is understood to have been a mere bystander.

In a statement today, Dr. Davies says the slaughter of the men is a dastardly and cowardly act aimed at undermining law and order.

The Transport Minister says he’s extremely saddened that criminals could be so heartless and attach such minimal value to human lives.
