PNP leadership contender, Dr. Karl Blythe, is challenging party President Portia Simpson Miller to debate with him before next month’s election.

Dr. Blythe says it’s not merely a matter of him wanting a debate with Mrs. Simpson Miller prior to the PNP annual conference where the leadership election will be held.

He says the PNP needs the debate for both him and Simpson Miller to put forward their ideas.

Dr. Blythe says the issues of renewal and the absence of genuine democracy in the party should take center stage in the leadership debate.

Dr. Blythe has been on record as saying Mrs. Simpson Miller’s failure to take part in the national leadership debates in the run up to the General Election earlier this year is unforgivable.

He’s urging the PNP President not to make a similar mistake concerning his call for an internal debate ahead of the party’s 78th annual conference.
