A surge in Covid-19 cases and hospitalisations across the U.S is raising concerns as the highly infectious Delta variant spreads in the country.
The pace of vaccination has also subsided from the all-time highs last seen in April.
The up-tick in cases has touched every state , with the seven-day average of newly reported cases exceeding the 14-day average in each place for the past four days.
The country has reported an average of more than 32,000 new coronavirus cases each day over the past week.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, coronavirus-related hospitalizations have also jumped, rising 36-percent between July 7 and July 13 compared with the previous seven days.
Federal and state officials are pushing to get vaccines to undecided or isolated Americans, and public-health officials in parts of California and Nevada have reinstituted indoor mask recommendations.
The upswing in cases and hospitalisations in the U.S has been more pronounced in areas with lower rates of vaccination against Covid-19.
About 48 percent of the country’s population is fully vaccinated against the virus, and more than 55 percent have received at least one dose.
