The Ministry of Health has advised the Union of Technical Administrative and Supervisory Personnel, UTASP, that dental assistants in the public sector will have their retroactive payments settled on March 29.

This comes after a group of dental assistants protested outside the gates of the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.

The assistants claimed they were yet to receive their updated salaries despite signing off on the government’s wage offer on February 10.

General Secretary of UTASP, Saint Patrice Ennis confirmed the Ministry’s announcement.

Mr. Ennis says the protest led to the Ministry reaching out.

The assistants also showed documents detailing outstanding uniform materials that were to be given to them.

Mr. Ennis says the Ministry of Health has frustrated more than just dental assistants with empty promises.
