Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie says the biggest problem facing waste management in Jamaica is not the effectiveness of the collection system but rather people’s disregard for proper garbage disposal.

The Minister was speaking at a recent Rotary Club of New Kingston meeting.

He argued that assigning a garbage truck in every community would not solve the problem of people’s disregard for proper garbage disposal.

Meanwhile, Minister McKenzie is admitting that in recent times there’ve been challenges with the timely collection of garbage.

He’s promising there’ll be improvements soon.
