Health Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, is urging Jamaicans not to panic, amidst the rising number of Covid-19 cases across the island.

He made the plea while delivering the keynote address at the handover of the upgraded Mandeville Comprehensive Health Centre in Manchester earlier this week.

Dr Tufton informed the House of Representatives on Tuesday, that the island is experiencing an uptick in Covid-19 cases. Approximately 79 new cases across were recorded between July 4 and 10 alone.

Questions were raised regarding the accuracy of the data, given the decline in Covid-19 testing among Jamaicans.

But, Dr Tufton on Thursday, sought to reassure Jamaicans the ministry is disseminating accurate information and will continue to play its part in monitoring the cases.
