The Jamaica Teachers’ Association, JTA, is expressing some discomfort with plans by the Education Ministry to conduct an appraisal of teachers and inspection of schools during the current coronavirus pandemic.

JTA President, Jasford Gabriel, says he’ll be raising the issue with the Education Ministry today.

He was speaking at a JTA meeting on Tuesday.

The JTA boss argued that any appraisal conducted during the pandemic will not be fair and objective, given the challenges being encountered by teachers.

According to Mr Gabriel, administrators were called and advised that their schools would be inspected in a few days.
