National Security Minister, Dr Horace Chang, says a curfew declared in Effortville, Clarendon last week, is already reaping success.

The curfew was declared in response to a vicious gang war in the community which last week resulted in five people murdered and two others shot and injured within 48 hours.

Dr Chang says the latest gang feud in the crime plagued community was sparked by tensions over a stolen motorcycle.

He says six persons were detained under the curfew.

According to Dr Chang, a similar measure could be utilised in other crime plagued communities.
