The Electoral Office of Jamaica, EOJ, says all preparations have been made for election day workers and members of the police and military forces to vote today ahead of local government elections on Monday.
In a statement today, the EOJ says all staff and polling station material are in place for them to vote early.
Polls will open at 8:00 in this morning and close at 4 PM.
The EOJ says its preparations will accommodate voting for the almost 39,000 special services electors.
These include just over 10,000 members of the police force, 2,400 members of the JDF and 26,000 election day workers.
Under the Representation of the People Act, provisions are made for these electors to vote three days before the rest of the population.
This is to ensure that they’re available for duty on election day.
The EOJ says election day workers, military and police personnel who do not vote on Friday, will not be able to do so on Monday.
This, as their names have been extracted from the voters’ list to accommodate voting tomorrow.
Their names will not be on the civilian list to be used on Monday.
