One of the largest airlines in the world, Emirates, will start offering flights to Jamaica.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says the flights will connect Jamaica to the Middle East through New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and Georgia in the United States and Italy in Europe.

Emirates Airlines is the largest airline in the Gulf Coast Countries.

The announcement of flights from Emirates to Jamaica follows meeting between tourism ministry representatives and the Chairman of the Emirates Group, Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum

Director of Tourism, Mr Donovan White also met with the Emirates operational teams to work out the details for Jamaica to be entered into the system. 

In a statement, Minister Bartlett says both Norman Manley and Sangster International Airports are listed in the airline’s system, with ticket pricing available.

Minister Bartlett hailed the announcement as beneficial news for Jamaica.
