Science and Technology Minister, Dr. Andrew Wheatley, says his Ministry will be purchasing more than $5-million worth of tablets for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) teachers across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, JTA’s, Exseed Jamaica Conference, Minister Wheatley says the donation will come in the form of USD$40,000.

The Minister argues that the STEM and Information and Communication Technology, ICT, fields are vitally important in the government’s push to develop a knowledge-based society.

He says the STEM and ICT fields will directly impact Jamaica’s bid to remain competitive in the future.

The three-day Exseed Jamaica Conference is designed to provide teachers with additional training in the STEM fields.
