The Electoral Office of Jamaica, EOJ, says it’s fully prepared for the nomination of candidates for the February 26 Local Government Elections.
The EOJ says nominations will take place between 10am and 2pm at designated Nomination Centres across all 63 constituencies on Thursday.
Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, says he’s anticipating a well-coordinated, incident-free day.
He’s also reminding potential candidates that they must complete a nomination form, which will be provided on the EOJ’s website or at the nearest Constituency office.
The EOJ says the nomination form must be signed by any six or more electors qualified to vote.
The EOJ says the form must be returned to the Returning Officer between the hours of 10am and 2pm at the place specified in the election notice as designated venues on nomination day.
Nominated candidates are required to pay a fee of 3-thousand dollars to the Returning Officer.
Deposits must be made in bank notes.
The EOJ says no debit or credit cards or cheques will be accepted.
