Former Chief of Defence Staff, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, is urging the Jamaica Defense Force to cauterise any potential lingering issues from a series of violent confrontations between members of the force and residents in Denham Town this week.

In a pair of videos, which have since gone viral on social media, JDF members can be seen beating a woman and a man with a rifle. At least one member of the army was seen kicking a pregnant woman.

He says some residents of communities plagued by gang violence, are forced to provoke members of the security forces.

It’s why Mr Lewin says there’s greater need for evaluation of the social depravation in some communities.

He’s also urging members of the security forces to be professional while on duty.
