Assistant coach of the Reggae Boyz, Merron Gordon, admits this World Cup cycle represents Jamaica’s best chance of returning to the world’s greatest show, the 2026 Fifa World Cup finals.

The Reggae Boyz first and only appearance at the global show piece was in France 1998.

They opened their 2026 campaign with a 1-0 win against the Dominican Republic at the National Stadium, before beating Dominica 3-2 at Windsor Park.

As hosts, USA, Mexico and Canada qualify automatically for the 48-team tournament, from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Gordon says with the absence of the big three for a qualifying spot, the Jamaican public will not accept any excuse if the Boyz do not punch their ticket to the 2026 World Cup.

He says they remain positive they’ll be one of the teams representing CONCACAF at the 2026 World Cup.
