The COVID-19 field hospital constructed in Falmouth, Trelawny has been completed and is ready for use.

Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, is also slated to tour the facility which is expected to serve Westmoreland, Trelawny, Hanover and St. James.

The 36-beds facility is to host patients suffering from the virus if and when hospital beds in the western region are full.

It will be handed over to the Western Regional Health Authority that will admit patients a week and a half later.

Following the handing over, the facility is expected to be cleaned and equipment and supplies will be moved in.

The completion of the hospital comes at a time when the region has seen a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases over the past month.
