A member of staff of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service has been charged with the offences of corruptly soliciting and accepting funds from a member of the public.

The staff member, who is unidentified, was arrested by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, on Monday, May 9. 

In a statement from the Finance Ministry, the staff member was charged in relation to facilitating the fast tracking of the motor vehicle duty concession approval process. 

The staff member was offered bail and is expected to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on May 20.
