A mid-morning fire at the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts has destroyed the institution’s painting department.

Three units from the Jamaica Fire Brigade have responded to a fire at the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts.

The fire started sometime after 9:00 am.

Thick smoke could be seen coming from the campus.

Marketing and Communications Director at Edna Manley Colleen Douglas says the fire has affected the painting department.

Ms. Douglas says the fire has affected a two storey building.

Easels and students’ work are usually stored in the building.
