Veteran Journalist and former Editor in Chief at the Gleaner, Ken Allen, has died.

He was 87 years old.

The journalist with over 7 decades of experience passed away at the University Hospital of the West Indies on Sunday after a long ailment.

Allen spent much of his career at the gleaner where he was hired in 1952.

The Cornwall College alumnus was inducted into the Order of Distinction, Commander class, in 1988.

In 2002, he was honoured by the Press Association of Jamaica for outstanding service to Jamaican journalism.
