A former general secretary of the People’s National Party, Paul Burke, is suggesting that Dr. Peter Phillips should stay on as President of the PNP until next September.
He says this would give the party time to analyze the reasons for its crushing defeat in last week’s general elections, and reorganize.
Dr. Phillips has already offered his resignation, however, Nationwide News understands it has yet to be accepted by the party.
However, Mr. Burke says it may be difficult to temper the leadership ambitions within the party until that time.
The former PNP general secretary says last year’s leadership aspirant, Peter Bunting, should not be ruled out as a future leader, even though he failed to win his seat in the House of Representatives.
