Four men have been arrested following a double murder in Grants Pen, St Andrew on Sunday.

Another man was also shot and injured in the attack.

Reports are that sometime after 3pm, gunmen drove through the community and fired several shots at the men who were at a construction site.

Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, Senior Superintendent, Stephanie Lindsay, told Nationwide News that the police in the area were successful in apprehending four men following a shootout which ensued as they tried to escape.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.

SSP Lindsay says the police have also increased their presence in the area as they continue their investigations.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that one of the deceased was friends with brother of dancehall entertainer Jahshii, David Clarke.

Clarke was shot and killed in the Grants Pen Community of St Andrew on Saturday.

SSP Lindsay says a relative of the deceased confirmed the relationship.

In Saturday’s attack, the police say Jahshii’s brother and another man were at a yard in Grants Pen when armed men approached and opened fire.

Clarke was shot and killed, while the other man was injured.

Jashii’s family has been under attack since June, after the entertainer’s name was allegedly linked to a murder investigation in the same community.

Jahshii, whose real name is Mluleki Tafari Clarke, voluntarily went in to the police for questioning on the matter after his lawyers, King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Richard Lynch, sent them a letter on the entertainer’s behalf indicating that their client was eager to meet with them.

He was subsequently questioned and released.

In July, six people, said to be from the entertainer’s entourage, were also shot and injured by gunmen on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

SSP Lindsay says the police are theorising that the men who were killed on Sunday, were not the target.
