The Financial Services Commission, FSC, says the recent cyber attack on its network is still under active investigation.

The Commission says it’s aware that data relating to its day-to-day work as a financial sector regulator has been published on the internet.

The FSC issued a joint statement this afternoon alongside the Jamaica Cyber Incident Response Team, JaCIRT and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA.

The FSC says it can now confirm that the event involved a ransomware attack by cyber criminals, who obtained unauthorised access to its networks.

It says it initiated its response plan as soon as the breach was detected.

The FSC says it collaborated with local and international cybersecurity experts to assess and contain the threat.

According to the FSC, the breach was contained within its network systems.
