President-General of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, BITU, Senator Kavan Gayle, says he doesn’t believe definitions and analysis regarding the future of work have been fully agreed on, both regionally and globally.

Gayle, who’s also a regional executive member of UNI Americas, spoke with Nationwide News following a joint meeting with the organisation and the BITU over the weekend.

He says while unions represent workers, there must be greater collaboration among stakeholders to achieve a just and equitable balance amid calls for change.

Senator Gayle says trade unions must educate workers on the modern approach and purpose of representation.

And Senator Gayle says the Occupational Safety and Health Bill is closer to being finalised.

Senator Gayle conceded that the bill has spent an inordinately long time being put together and finalised.

Still, he says says word out of the Ministry of Labour’s department is that the provisions of the bill have finally seen full agreement and the final draft should be seen soon.
