Let good sense prevail!

That’s the call from youth affiliates of the Jamaica Labour Party, Generation 2000, to Opposition Senator and President of the PNP’s Youth Organisation, Gabriela Morris.

They’re urging Senator Morris to vote for the extension of the States of Public Emergency, SOEs.

Several parishes are currently under the measure due to a surge in crime in those areas. An extension of the SOE will need the support of at least one opposition member when the Senate meets on Friday.

G2K President, Shayne Kerr, is imploring Senator Morris and other members of the opposition to put politics aside.

Kerr says Senator Morris has an obligation to act in the best interest of Jamaica. He says the freedom of the Jamaican people have been undermined by violence producers.

He notes that the extension is an ideal opportunity for Senator Morris to demonstrate her political autonomy and put the Jamaican people ahead of what he calls, the PNP’s imprudent agenda.

Kerr says parishes which have been placed under SOEs have shown positive results in reducing crime.
