The Caribbean Policy Research Institute, CaPRI, is recommending that the National Housing Trust, NHT relinquishes the construction of houses to private sector.

This as the think-tank says the building of houses by the NHT crowds out private investment in the housing market.

CaPRI’s Co-Executive Director, Dr. Damien King, presented the findings of its at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston last evening.

CaPRI is also recommending that NHT should broaden its housing market interventions to include housing rental, in order to benefit its poorest contributors, who are not able to access its products.
