The Government has launched phase two of its National Export Strategy, NES, in an effort to improve the country’s exports and overall economic performance.

The strategy was launched last Thursday by Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.

Phase one of the was project was launched in 2009 as a joint initiative of the private and public sectors.

Its primary goal was to reverse the decline in the balance of trade between Jamaica and its major trading partners.

Phase two will see the introduction of almost 200 targeted strategies and activities that will be executed by thirty-five agencies over a four-year period, ending in 2019.
