Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, says the next People’s National Party, PNP, administration will remove the need for guarantors for students applying to the Students’ Loan Bureau, SLB.

Mr. Golding was addressing party faithfuls at the People’s National Party’s 85th annual conference at the National Arena on Sunday.

The PNP Leader added that the PNP would also cap the repayment ceiling for students.

Currently, beneficiaries of the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) who apply to the SLB do not need guarantors to support their applications.

Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, announced this measure when he opened the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives in March this year.

The Holness administration’s ‘no guarantor policy’ for PATH beneficiaries took effect in September 2023.
