Newly elected president of the People’s National Party, PNP, Mark Golding says foundation of the party’s unity will now be love and respect.
The South St Andrew Member of Parliament, defeated South East St Ann MP Lisa Hanna by 296 votes in Saturday’s presidential elections.
He polled 17-hundred and 40 votes to Hanna’s 14-hundred and 44.
Mr Golding says the party is embarking on what he calls a new era.

Meanwhile, People’s National Party, PNP Presidential hopeful, Lisa Hanna, has congratulated Mark Golding on being elected the new President of the Party, Saturday.
Mr Golding will replace outgoing President Dr Peter Phillips.
In a statement Saturday, Ms. Hanna says she called Mr. Golding after the results were announced and extended her congratulations and best wishes to him.
Ms. Hanna says she also assured him of her full support in the period ahead to ensure that the PNP remains faithful to the best interests of the Jamaican people.
She notes they have much work to do and must come together in love and choose Unity.
Ms Hanna also expressed appreciation to all the delegates who supported her campaign and voted on Saturday.
She says the campaign has been extraordinary and rewarding.
She also expressed her gratitude to her Campaign Team who she says worked tirelessly to make the campaign possible.
Ms Hanna also thanked her family, and her constituents in South East St Ann for their unwavering support.
