Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, says the issue of occult practices in the country is a symptom of societal distress.
At least three people are dead after police raided a religious group in Montego Bay, St. James on Sunday.
Mr. Golding was speaking at the PNP’s post conference media briefing this morning.
It’s understood that the police acted on intelligence of human sacrifice rituals being performed and visited the location.
The Opposition Leader commended the quick response of the security forces to the incident.
However, Mr. Golding noted that a more robust approach is needed to help people who are struggling.
Mr. Golding says the inadequacies of the state’s response to these issues have contributed to the recent incidents of kidnappings and cult rituals.
