Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness, says the Government is shirking its responsibility in tackling the problem of teenage pregnancy.

His comments follow the recent murder of two 14 year old girls in St. Thomas and Trelawny.

Both girls were pregnant at the time of their death.

Mr. Holness says diligent parenting and public education initiatives are among the things required to successfully address the problem of teenage pregnancy.

But he says the Government has a major role to play.

Mr. Holness says there’s been a decline in the provision of those crucial family planning services which were previously available in the public health care system.
