The government is establishing two Cancer Treatment Centres in the country.

The National Health Fund, NHF, which is leading the project, signed a 14-and-a-half million US dollar contract with California-based firm Varian Medical Systems for the establishment of the centres in Kingston and Montego Bay.

The Health Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson, says the centres will significantly lower the cost of treating cancers.

The cancer treatment centres are being funded by the NHF, which is contributing $US10 million and the CHASE fund which is providing the balance of $US4.5 million.
