Energy Minister, Daryl Vaz says the government continues to pursue oil and gas exploration off Jamaica’s shores.
Minister Vaz gave an update in the House of Representatives yesterday.
The Minister was making his contribution to the Sectoral Debates yesterday.
United Oil & Gas PLC has been awarded a two-year extension for its Walton Morant oil exploration licence in Jamaica.
The UK-based company’s exploration licence will now run to January 31, 2024, and by then will be required to make an initial ‘drill or drop’ decision.
Minister Vaz says while not at the drilling phase work still continues.
