The Government says nearly $1-billion will be allocated to the 63 members of parliament over the next several weeks as part of a flood mitigation, bushing, beautification and road maintenance works programme.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement in the House of Representatives yesterday. He noted that the MPs won’t get actual cash or a cheque in their hands. He says the programme is to be coordinated by the National Works Agency, NWA and the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA.
The Prime Minister says checks and balances at every stage will ensure value for money. He also says MPs must ensure they implement the programmes efficiently.
