Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government cannot continue to offer COVID-19 welfare grants over the long term.
Earlier this week, Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, announced direct government grants totaling nearly $4-billion as part of the administration’s targeted COVID-19 relief.
Speaking at a vaccination tour in St. Ann today, Mr. Holness says the government cannot sustain direct relief packages.
The Prime Minister says Jamaicans must begin to make the connection between their economic livelihood and vaccination.
He says vaccination is the only way the country can return to normal economic activity.
