Culture Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange yesterday issued a formal welcome for recently deported Jamaican entertainer Mark Myrie popularly known as Buju Banton.

Myrie returned to the island on Friday evening after serving a 7-year prison sentence at the McCrae Correctional Facility in Georgia.

He was arrested in 2011 on drug-related charges.

She also expressed hopes of seeing him perform again.

Meanwhile, Banton is reportedly expected to embark on a tour next year to be dubbed ‘Long Walk to Freedom.’

This was announced by his team on social media. There’ve been reports that the first show will be staged in Jamaica.
