The government of Guyana says it has earned US$353 million from the sale of carbon credits since 2022.

Guyana became the first country in the world to receive jurisdictional-scale forest carbon credits.

The certification resulted in approximately 33 million carbon credits being issued for the period 2016 to 2020.

The government says the sale has provided significant financing for climate action and national development under its Low Carbon Development Strategy.
