People’s National Party, PNP, candidate for South Eastern St Ann in the September 3 General Elections, Lisa Hanna has been returned as MP elect for the constituency.

This after she managed to hold on to a marginal victory against the JLP’s Delroy Grantson.

She won the seat by 31 votes.

Ms Hanna’s in her fourth term as MP for the constituency.

Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown spoke with our newscentre shortly after the magisterial recount today.

He says the Magisterial recount for Clarendon North Western continues.

That seat was contested by the PNP’s Richard Azan and the JLP’s Phillip Henriques.

After the initial count,Mr Azan secured 6,009 votes.

Mr Henriques secured 6,124 votes.

The latest recount sees the JLP securing 49 of the 63 seats in the Lower House.

The PNP won 14 seats.

Meanwhile, Mr Brown refrained from saying much on the Magisterial recount requested by Independent candidate in Central Manchester, Rohan Chung recently.

He notes every candidate has a right to a magisterial recount.

Mr. Chung secured a total 48 votes to the JLP’s Rhoda Moy Crawford’s 8,139 votes, while the PNPs Peter Bunting received 6,989 votes.

When asked if he thinks there should be a cap on the number of votes a candidate can secure before seeking a recount he had this to say.
