Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says results of the latest Covid-19 samples tested overseas suggest there’s no evidence that the feared Delta variant of Covid -19 is in Jamaica.

Minister Tufton was responding to questions raised by Opposition Spokesman on Health and Wellness Dr. Morais Guy in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Dr Guy also raised questions about the rate of fatalities associated with the virus.

He says at the height of the spike in Covid-19 cases in March, the fatality rate was below 1-percent.

He was however unable to say the exact dates those samples were taken.

He also says often times the deaths reported for a particular week, had occurred previously and were under investigation.
